IF YOU ARE 50 YEARS OLD OR OVER (Answers To Some Tough Questions)

  1. You're over qualified.
Answer: "Mr. Employer that would be a big plus for you. When was the last time you hired someone who could do more than you expected? At this stage in my career, I'm not going to be job hopping. If you and I can come to an agreement, I plan on being a long-term employee".

  2. Your salary is too high.
Answer: "Mr. Employer, I would not want to re-arrange the salary ranges you have established at your company. On the other hand, I wouldn't argue with you if you wanted to hire me at the top of the salary range for the position we are talking about."

  3. Health and Pension Benefits High.
Answer: "Mr. Employer, you can check into my background and you will find that I have had very few days off because of any type of illness. I can pass anyone's physical. (Use this approach, only if true. Otherwise, you might want mention that you are willing to pay a higher portion of your insurance if need be). I'm not worried about a pension because I really don't plan on a full retirement. I want to work for a company until I feel I can no longer contribute."
