THE MONEY QUESTION Usually during the interview the question will come up," What kind of salary are you looking for?" If you answer this question wrong you could paint yourself into a corner that you may not want to find yourself in. If you answered that question and said you are looking for say, $45,0000 a year and they had in mind to offer you $52,000 a year, guess what the offer will be? That's right, $45,000. On the other hand, lets say the job was perfect, the location was perfect, the product was perfect, etc.,etc. And if they offered you $42,000 you would take the job in a minute. If you say your looking for $45,000 and they had in mind to offer you $42,000 they may not make the offer because they may feel you will refuse it. The professional way to handle that question is to answer it like this," Mr. Employer you know much more about the job than I do at this point in time and where it fits into your wage range. What did you have in mind?" Put it right back on their shoulders. They already know what you're making and they know what range they want to bring you in at for the specific job. There are only two absolutes that I know about, but if you can, don't give them a figure if you can get around it. YOU MAY LEAVE MORE ON THE TABLE THAN YOU THOUGHT.
